WordPress 5.4 is here + 3 new trends that I'm seeing right now 🤔

Hey streight,

In case you missed the news, WordPress 5.4 is finally here.

It has a lot of new features and improvements that I really like, even though one feature has raised some controversy.

See what's new in WordPress 5.4

Now that the big item is out of the way, I want to address a question that I have gotten recently:

"What new trends am I seeing right now?"

Well there are a lot of them ... but here are the top 3 that you can learn and benefit from:

1. E-learning is growing really really fast

Online content consumption is on a huge rise.

I talked with e-learning software companies, and they're seeing record number of people setting up virtual classrooms / courses / membership sites.

You can teach almost anything online ... yoga class, mathematics, cooking, etc.

Trainers around the world are setting up virtual classrooms. That's why we did a tutorial on how to create a virtual classroom with WordPress.

Also since advertising revenues are going down, many online creators are also setting up courses to create a predictable income stream.

The team at MemberPress came up with 24 membership site ideas if you're looking for some inspiration.

2. People are investing time to expand their skillsets

Over the last two weeks, I have seen a lot of people wanting to learn new skills. Whether it's WordPress, SEO, programming, photography, marketing, or something else.

This is why many popular learning sites are offering free training.

One of the best ones is Skillshare which has a wide-variety of courses, and you can get all of them for free for 2 months.

And, if you want to learn WordPress, then of course WPBeginner content is the best place :)

See this tutorial on how to learn WordPress for free (in a week or less).

Side note: even the students who earned college scholarships from my foundation are adapting / learning new skills. I'm really proud of them :)

3. Stay at home economy, remote work, and essentials

The world is facing two crisis at the same time, a global pandemic and an ensuing recession.

This is leading to a lot of life changes for everyone.

Some changes will stay and even grow after we recover such as: remote work, stay-at-home economy, and ecom-essentials.

If you're thinking about starting a new blog, or an online business idea, then these are the areas that I believe will thrive.

Remote work is fairly self-explanatory.

Stay-at-home economy are basically things like video streaming, online meetings, food delivery, tele-health, at-home entertainment, remote services like docusign, etc.

Ecommerce essentials are every day items that we all need to live. Typically these are things that you buy at grocery stores (the boring stuff).

I believe we're going to see a lot more physical product businesses that are going to disrupt this market just like how Dollar Shave Club did with Gillette.

Anyways, if you're thinking of starting something new, these are the areas I'd consider looking into :)

With that said, I hope you're staying safe and getting lots done.

I am currently working on some cool additions to the WPBeginner website that I can't wait to share with you.
