Ignoring "Best Practices" ... and my results + sneak peek on what I'm working on next 🤩

Hey streight,

One of the things I'm noticing is that a lot of people are getting stuck with choice paralysis, and not getting started.

To help with that, I shared an unconventional video that talks about why I don't follow all the "best practices" ... and how it actually helps me succeed.

The video is available inside our free WPBeginner Facebook group. You can click here to watch it.

Whether you're looking to start a website or add a new section / feature to your existing website, I hope this video helps you get started :)

Ok, so now the big thing is out the way ....

I want to share with you 3 resources from WPBeginner + give you a sneak peek into what I will be working on this week (read all the way, it's fun).

1. Fixing WordPress not sending email issue

One of the most commonly asked questions on WPBeginner is how to fix WordPress not sending email issue.

This is a real problem and many website owners don't even know that they're facing this issue.

Here's a tutorial on how to fix the issue.

I implement this solution on all of our websites :)

2. Displaying recent posts in sidebar, footer, etc

There are times you may want to display your most recent posts or recent posts from specific category in your website sidebar, footer, or other areas.

I had our team update the ultimate guide on how to display recent posts.

It covers 5 different options, so you can have maximum flexibility / customization features.

3. Backlink checker SEO tools

Several of you asked about how to see your website backlinks, and what tools do we use at WPBeginner.

As you already know that backlinks can help boost search rankings and increase overall website traffic.

We shared the best backlink checker tools (free and paid options). Our team primarily uses the #1 option in the list, but we have tried all of them.

Sneak Peek: What I will be working on this week

Few of you responded to my last email asking me to bring back the part where I shared what I will be focusing on this week ... so here it is :)

I am working on creating a Community page on WPBeginner.

Basically, the goal is to showcase all our social media content from Instagram, Facebook group, YouTube, and Twitter on a single page on our site.

I will be using the Smash Balloon plugins because they have social feed aggregator options for all four social platforms.

I tried the free version, and it seems very powerful. I may end up using the Pro version for some of the features that I need.

Of course, I'll share the results with you when I'm done.

What are you working on this coming week? Reply to this email and let me know.

Have a happy weekend.

The most popular tutorial on WPBeginner + 3 "power user" tips ... 🔥

Hey streight,

Last week, I did an experiment "Ask Me Anything" ... and wow, what a response we got. I'm going to be making a series of videos to answer all of them.

One question that multiple people asked was: what's the most popular tutorial on WPBeginner?

Here's the answer - it's one of the earlier ones, but we update it every year :)

I'm still recording the video answers for your other questions, but in the meantime I want to share 3 power user tips.

1. How to Clone / Duplicate a WordPress Site

Recently I bought a new website (shh it's a secret).

To complete the deal, I had to duplicate the site and move it to my hosting account ASAP.

I turned to my favorite plugin that allowed me to clone the site and do the migration in less than 1 hour.

Here are the 7 best plugins that you can use to clone WordPress sites.

2. Welcome Mats and Dynamic Website Elements

Two weeks ago, I shared with you that I was focused on traffic monetization.

I used this guide on: 18 ways to make more money from your existing traffic to add various dynamic website elements across my sites.

This has helped me make an additional $2,258 in just last 48 hours.

I added Welcome Mats with a promo offer, countdown timers inside floating header bars, and more.

If you're not using dynamic website elements, then I highly recommend it. They work really well!

3. How to Buy a Taken Domain (9 Pro Tips + 4 Alternatives)

Over the last three weeks, one question that I have seen asked many times is: how can I buy a domain that's already taken by someone else?

In my 16 years online journey, I have spent anywhere from few hundred to few million dollars buying premium domains and established website businesses.

This week, I created an ultimate guide on how to buy a taken domain which contains 9 Pro tips + 4 alternative solutions when you're on a budget!

Also it should go without saying ... if you're thinking about starting a new blog, website, or another online business idea, then now is literally the best time!

Thousands of people are starting new online ventures right now because there are a lot of huge savings opportunities.

SiteGround, the hosting company that I use for WPBeginner, is offering Startup hosting for $0.99 for 3 months to help more entrepreneurs / creators get started during COVID-19 challenging times.

Bluehost, another popular WordPress hosting company that I use for my smaller sites, is offering website hosting for $2.75 per month, and it includes a free domain + SSL.

Remember, my goal is to help you start something that you'll be proud of in the next 6 months and beyond :)

Stay focused and make it happen!

Have a happy weekend.

NEW: WordPress Security Audit Checklist + a quick experiment ... 😍

Hey streight,

In case you missed it, I released our WordPress security audit checklist.

It basically walks you through how to perform a security audit on your website (step by step).

See: WordPress security audit checklist + tools

Now that the big thing is out of the way, I want to talk about a quick experiment that I'm running + 2 resources to help you grow your online presence.

1. Quick Experiment - something new I want to try ...

I have been asked by a lot of third-party sites to do an "Ask Me Anything (AMA)", and I normally turn these down.

But this week, I want to get outside of my comfort zone!

It's something I've really been wanting to do to connect with you all more ... so LET'S GO!

You can follow this link to Ask Me Anything.

It could be about: WordPress, blogging, business, life, entrepreneurship, SEO, SaaS, marketing, remote work, basically anything you like :)

I will do my best to answer each question and might even make a series of personalized video answers!

Not sure what to ask? See all the things I'm up to, so you can get some ideas.

2. Fighting complacency, staying focused, and 103 blog post ideas

I will be honest with you ... this COVID-19 lockdown is hard.

Few users asked me about suggestions for coming up with blog post ideas.

Well here are two resources that will help:

- 103 blog post ideas that your readers will love
- How to do keyword research for your WordPress blog

Lastly, this quote from James Clear is really helpful:

"Each day is a new battle to say yes to what matters and say no to what doesn't. Focus is a practice."

3. Start something new and save big!

As I have mentioned in my last few emails, a lot of people are starting a new blog, website, or another online business idea.

Right now is literally the best time because there are a lot of huge savings opportunities.

My team has also compiled a list of 100+ other deals on various WordPress themes, plugins, and other website related products.

I highly recommend that you check it out.

Also I have added dozens of other free resources in my ultimate coronavirus small business guide.

That's all for today.

Have a happy weekend. Stay safe, healthy, and in good spirits :)

Catch-Up Day: Improving website monetization + I did not see this coming ... 😲

Hey streight,

As you already know, I've been using Saturdays as my catch-up day for various website tasks.

Last weekend, I was focused on increasing our website traffic using the two resources that I shared.

And as a result, my traffic increased over 10 - 20% on my various websites :)

If you missed it, don't worry - I'll re-share it at the end of this email.

Anyways, several people wanted to know what am I working on this weekend?

The answer is ... traffic monetization!

It's a big focus for me this weekend and upcoming week. Here are the top two resources that I'm using:

- 18 ways to make more money from your existing website traffic
- 22 proven power-user tips to boost your conversions

Why did I choose this as my #1 priority this week? I'll cover that below in the section where I share the big news that I didn't see coming.

But first, my goal during these crazy times is to help you create something amazing that you'll be proud of in the next 6 months.

If you haven't started your website / idea yet, then now is the best time.

Some people shared in our Facebook group that they were having a hard time coming up with a blog name / business name idea.

You can use this tool called Nameboy

It's the oldest domain name generator in the world (started in 1999). I bought it and made it really awesome.

Unlike other tools, it also checks whether the domain is actually available, so you will save a lot of time while seeing the best name ideas :)

Once you have found the idea, you can use our tutorial on how to learn WordPress for free (in a week or less) to create a website, blog, podcast, membership site, or even an online store.

Ok now coming back to the news that surprised me big time!!!

Yesterday Business Insider reported that 11 retailers including Amazon were suspending their influencer / affiliate programs with top affiliates like Skimlinks, and others.

This is why it's more important than ever for content creators and influencers to not only build their own website, but also build an email list.

If you rely on affiliate marketing as your primary source of income, then you need to diversify. Here are 30 ideas that can help.

Also hopefully now you understand why maximum traffic monetization is my top priority this week.

If you missed my email from last week, here are the two resources that I used to grow my traffic. .

32 marketing hacks guaranteed to grow your traffic
27 easy ways to increase your website traffic (proven tactics)

Aside from that, I have added dozens of other free resources in my ultimate coronavirus small business guide.

With that said, I hope you're staying safe, healthy, and in good spirits :)
